Vehicle Insurance

Optimal protection for your car or motorcycle – we compare offers and find the best solution for your needs.

What is vehicle insurance?

Vehicle insurance protects you from the financial consequences of accidents, theft, and other damage involving your car or motorcycle. In Switzerland, motor vehicle liability insurance is mandatory – additional coverage such as partial or full comprehensive is voluntary.

We analyse your actual coverage needs, compare offers from various insurers, and find the optimal solution with the best value for money. In doing so, we pay attention to suitable deductibles, sensible additional options, and a long-term favourable premium level.

In-depth knowledge

1

Mandatory liability insurance

Motor vehicle liability insurance is mandatory in Switzerland. It covers damage that you cause to third parties with your vehicle – both personal injury and property damage.

The minimum sum insured is CHF 5 million, but many insurers offer higher coverage. We recommend sufficiently high coverage, since serious accidents can quickly lead to high damage claims.

2

Partial comprehensive insurance

Partial comprehensive insurance protects your vehicle from damage not caused by collision: theft, glass breakage, fire, natural events such as hail or flooding, and marten bites.

Partial comprehensive insurance is especially recommended for new and valuable vehicles. The deductible is usually between CHF 200 and CHF 1'000.

3

Full comprehensive insurance

Full comprehensive insurance includes all the benefits of partial comprehensive plus collision damage – even if you caused the accident yourself. It's especially worthwhile for new and expensive vehicles.

After 4-5 years, the vehicle's current value usually drops so much that switching to partial comprehensive makes sense. We calculate the optimal time for you.

4

Bonus-malus system

Switzerland uses the bonus-malus system: with claim-free driving, your premium level decreases annually (bonus); with claims, it increases (malus).

After several claim-free years, you reach the lowest level. We help you optimise your current level and avoid unnecessary premium increases.

Avoid common mistakes

These are the mistakes we see most often in practice

Deductible too high

For small claims like glass breakage, you pay more out of pocket than you save on premiums.

Full comprehensive for old vehicles

With a low current value, the premium often exceeds the possible benefit – money that would be better invested.

No annual comparison

Insurance premiums change. Those who don't compare quickly end up paying several hundred francs too much.

Unnecessary additional options

Breakdown assistance, replacement vehicles, or new-value replacement aren't always needed – we check what you really need.
